"Yes, we have experience! In the past 50+years we have experienced many cycles in the fisheries and the economy. Or is that to say we have seen a few cycles of man and fish. We started fly fishing for steelhead in our local rivers in the late 1960's. The cutting edge fly rod material was fiberglass, and Steelhead weren't yet classified as gamefish. Truth is steelhead runs might not have been much larger than now, but there wasn't much angler competition, so the fish bit better. Mid 70's runs took a big dip then runs grew through the 80's, fell off in the 90's, then peaked through the late 2000's, declined until 2014, and took a dive in 2021.
